I am especially impressed that your "Helper" was able to squeeze this

next set of fabric  into my stocking!

This was a VERY, VERY, VERY last minute request that I wasn't expecting to receive!

So, your "Helper" really was paying attention this year.

Spruce Up Your Gift Packages

If you are like me,

you have to mail out a majority of your Christmas gifts.

Every year I struggle with ways to decorate the

packages that I need to mail out to family and friends.

I never use bows because they always get crushed in the shipping process

and I always run out of curling ribbon.

SO

This year I decided to save the environment (and my wallet)

and use something that I already had at home:

YARN.

I simply took the yarn and wrapped it several times around each package.

The next one is a simple look.

The green wrapping paper is my all time favorite!

It is so bold and fun!

Simply add a cute gift tag

and

VOILA! A cute and inexpensive way to spruce up your packages.

The yarn is light and one ball of yarn can wrap a TON of packages!

These are ready to go to their new home.

A $10 Wreath

After making this wreath for my Halloween Party,

I thought that it would be nice to do something for Christmas.

We have all seen those wreaths made out of ornaments at the "high-end" stores,

so

I thought that I would make one for myself.

Here is what I did:

Step 1:  RUN! RUN! RUN!  (I do mean run) to your nearest Dollar Store

and buy a bunch of these:

and some of these smaller ornaments:

Step 2: Add a dab of hot glue to tightly secure the top of the ornament.

This step will take a little bit of time, but it is worth it in the long run.

Most of the tops are not secured to the ornament,so this will help to hold them in place.

It really doesn't matter how much hot glue you apply because

the tops will not be seen on the wreath.

I arranged all of the balls in this bowl so that I could decide how

I wanted to arrange them on the wreath.

Step 3: Unwrap an ordinary coat hanger.

Then start to thread the ornaments on the coat hangar one at a time.

I alternated the color and size of each ball.

The smaller ornaments help to fill in the gaps.

(I must warn you that it took me a couple of tries before I

achieved the look of the wreath)

Step 4: Wrap the two ends of the hangar together.

(You will need an extra set to hand and a pair of pliers to help you with this step.)

Then stand back and admire your work!

I used about 60 ornaments, which probably cost me less than $10.

I think that this would make a great gift for anyone!

Charming Girls Quilt Club (CGQC) December Finish

Hello fellow Quilt Club members!

I know that I have been absent for a little while, but now I am back.

Several months ago,Kelly sent me these:

I designed my own pattern and came up with this.

I call it  Christmas Bars.

I didn't have any Glace fabric, so I added:

(all Moda) Oak Leaves & Reel by Terry Lothier Thompson

Shangri La, and Winter by Minick & Simpson.

I still have so much to do!

Brown Paper Packages

When brown paper packages arrive in your mailbox,

you know that it will be something special!

This is what was inside my brown paper package:

A lovely surprise from my dear friend Mary (aka- Quilt Hollow) !

Inside was this:

 

It is the most beautiful Red & White Toile quilted Christmas pillow cover!

She did an amazing job on this little gem!

and it is just as amazing as the front!

Somehow Mary just knew that the red toile would fit in nicely at my house!

Mary & I have been Blog Buddies from the very start!

You should take a peak at her blog. Her quilts are stunning.

Her home looks so warm and inviting (just like her). In fact I always tease her about moving in with her!

 We are like kindred spirits and she has given me lots of love and support from afar.

Dear Moda---- (Part 2)

(In case you forgot, please see Part 1 here. )

Dear Moda,

I know that it has bee a couple of weeks and Fall is over,

but here is what you can make with 2 of these:

The first Turnover made these:

I used a more traditional background for these.

The second Turnover made these:

I used a solid background for the quilts that I made with the second Turnover.

Of course I decided to add a few extra fabrics.

I added: (all Moda)  Fig Tree's Buttercream & Fig,

American Primer by Minick & Simpson, Cinnamon Stars by Fig Tree,

Collection For A Cause, & Cotton Blossoms.

All together I made:

2 large table runners, 3 medium table runners, and 4 mini quilts

just by using 2 Turnovers.

I have named them "Fall Into Fall Table Runners".

I kept the two large table runners for myself.

The others were given away as birthday presents, or used as the prizes for

the neighborhood Pokeno groups, or simply sprinkled throughout Blogland.

I enjoyed making them because they are so fast and simple.

The End Of A Good Thing

Hmmmm.....

Why must all good things come to an end?

Especially when it comes to vacations!

Oh well, I guess that it is

good bye vacation,

good bye room service,

good bye meal plan,

good bye 80 degree weather

AND

hello cold, rain, laundry, cooking, cleaning

and my very terribly avoided Christmas shopping!
