Progress Has Begun!

After a weekend of cleaning and caring for a sick child, I was able to complete and start a few projects! I completed Block #1 of Lynette Anderson's Noah's Ark Quilt. This is my very first attempt at stitchery! I went to The Coutnry Loft and purchased Valdani thread. Then I paired the thread with scraps from my scrap basket and away I went.

Everything was going well until I had to make a French knot. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get it to work! I even consulted my gal pal at The Quilt Nook and she gave me a tutorial over the phone. Of course I could make the knot while she talked me through it, but when I was on my own, NOTHING! I searched the web and found this great video tutorial on Needle n Thread. This site has video tutorials on all kinds of stitches. Check it out if you have any doubts about your stitches or if you just want to learn new one.

And finally, I began working on my Butterfly Garden quilt! I am so in love with this pattern and I can't wait to show you my completed block! I spent hours auditioning fabric from my stash and repositioning things. Here are some of my mini-blocks, which are part of block #1.

Hope you enjoyed my progress!...Until next time..Happy Quilting!

My latest finished projects!!!!

I guess that I have been on a roll the past few days because I have finished two items on my list! First, I completed the Fat Quarters Shop's Designer Mystery Block #1. It was relatively easy to piece together and I love the end result. I am starting to love the fabric line (Moda's Peace on Earth). Of course, my favorite is the fabric with the blue and brown dots!

The next project that I completed is the Friends quilt. It is surprise for one of my friends. She is also an "angel lover", so I know that she will love it. I used needle turn applique on the entire quilt. My machine quilting is also getting a little bit better!

So I have completed two things on my list!....Only how many more to go?....

Until next time...Happy Quiltitng!

Another GREAT Surprise!

Last week while I was unpacking boxes in my new house, the postman delivered another GREAT surprise from my gal pal at The Quilt Nook!

The package contained these goodies: tissue in a cute quilted wrapper, delicious apple raspberry jelly, a fat quarter from Moda's Simplicity line, and a "thumb" pin-cushion. I especially love the pin cushion because it came in handy while I was sewing the binding on my Friends quilt!

Thanks Cara! I love all of them!

She also sent me the quilt kit that we are going to work on when she comes to visit me. She saw this kit at her quilt store and decided that the pattern and colors were "so us"! The pattern is called Four Square by Cozy Quilt Designs. Her "Strip Club" chose to make the quilt kit out of Moda's At Water's Edge and Dandelion Girl, which are at the moment my favorite lines.

I also made a short (HA, HA) list of things that I want to complete within the next few weeks.

Here is my To Do List:
  • Fat Quarter Shop BOM #1

  • Sew binding on Friends quilt

  • Start Butterfly Garden quilt

  • Finish Piece & Plenty Block #7

  • Put borders on Oraganized Chaos quilt

  • Make table skirt for my quilt table

  • Noah's Ark- Block 1,2,3,4

(Check back tomorrow because I have completed a couple of these things. I just need to photograph them.)

Until next time...Happy Quilting!

My Dilemma!

Well after unpacking boxes and organizing my new house, I have gotten the "itch to stitch"! My gal pal at the Quilt Nook has found another project for us to tackle. LOL! This time we have decided to do Leanne Beasley's Butterfly Garden. I am so excited to do this project that I could scream!

I have decided to do my Butterfly Garden quilt in the YUMMY sherbert colors of orange, yellow, green, and blue. Most of the fabrics that I have chosen are Moda, with one or two others thrown into the mix. The blue floral fabric is from Moda's All Spice Tapestry.

Here are the fabrics separated out into groups:

Ok, here is my dilema. I can't decide on which fabric I should use for the appliqued butterflies. Should I use the pink solid fabric or the brown fabric? When I look at it, the pink seems to bright but I think that it would help the butterflies stand out. Then I think that the brown matches the other fabrics better, but will the butterflies look "silly" in the brown fabric?

Here are more views of the choices:

I am going to use the blue, pink, and yellow fabric to applique the flowers on the quilt. So, which one should I use....the pink or the brown? Please hlep me decide so that I can start working on the quilt!

Thanks for your help! Until next time...Happy Quilting!

Another completed project!

This week I am in the process of moving...ugh! There are boxes everywhere and my quilting supplies are packed away:( Luckily my husaband can't see just how big my fabric stash really is! LOL!

Anyway, last week I finished this flag quilt. It is my own design (my very first one)! I used mainly Praire Paisley fabics with a little bit of Moda's Hemming House mixed in. It took me a little bit longer to complete this quilt because my maching kept jamming up while I was machine quilting it (I know that it was the machine and not the machine operator)!

I machine quilted it with "waves" so that would look like a flag waving. The quilt label still needs to be added. I haven't done it yet because I want to add a photo to it and I can't decide which one I want to use.

Hope you enjoyed it!...Until next time...Happy Quilting!
