My First Selvage Mini Quilt

My motto for this year is "Waste Not, Want Not". When I finished making my Sassafras quilt, I had these "little bits" leftover. I decided to put them to good use and make my first Selvage Mini Quilt.

As you can see, they are just the ends of my Cotton Blossom jelly roll strips. This is what I created with those "skinny" little pieces:

I enjoyed making this selvage quilt. I think that working with selvages creates a whole different look, one that I am sure I will try again.
I also finished my Sassafras quilt (finally)! It is in the dryer right now getting "quiltified". I will post pictures of my newest treasure tomorrow.
Until Next Time......Happy Quilting!

Charming Chatter Quilt Show Update!

First, I hope that everyone had a safe Memorial Day Weekend with their family and friends! As a military wife and military brat, I want to say how important it is to thank all of our Service Members for their sacrifices. So many of them have given the ultimate sacrifice, their lives! Without them, our FREEDOM wouldn't be FREE!

Now for the important update about Kelly's Charming Threads Quilt Show and Giveaway!

Due to the wonderful response and her generous mood, Kelly has decided to allow everyone to enter more than one quilt! That gives all of us 2 chances to win her awesome prizes!

Speaking of prizes, she has raised the bar on the prizes! The winner can now choose either a Fat Quarter Bundle of their choice from the store OR one of the Jelly Cakes that she got from Spring Market! Who wouldn't want to get their hands on Aster Manor, Rouenneries, Odyssea, Mill House Inn, or Wisscasset?

So Ladies, we still have time to enter our favorite quilts! I guess that I am going to need to find another quilt for the quilt show/giveaway! I hope that you will also enter something that we haven't seen before!

Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

Here is a sneak peek of what I have been creating in my studio (#1, #2, and almost #3):

Warning....Don't try this at home!

Yesterday was my DH's birthday, but we celebrated it today. This is his PAYBACK for my birthday cake.

(Notice all of the flames!) Happy Birthday to my Lovebird!

Kelly's Giveaway!

As I said before, Cotton Charm Quilts has become my favorite place to shop for Moda fabric! If you haven't met Kelly yet, stop by her blog, Charming Chatter, and enter her giveaway! Don't forget to browse through her selection of Moda fabric.

The title of her giveaway is "Charming Thread Spring Quilt Show". It is her version of an online quilt show, in which anyone can enter one of their own quilts. Kelly will draw random winners from everyone who submits a quilt for the quilt show.

Did I mention the prizes? Well, the 1st place prize is a fat quarter bundle of YOUR choice from her store! The 2nd place prize is a jelly roll or layer cake of YOUR choice from her store! The 3rd place prize is a honey bun of YOUR choice from her store! The 4th place prize is a turnover of YOUR choice from her store!

I have already been wondering around her store and I have a list of things that I would want to win. Right now I have my heart set on some Wonderland by MoMo fabric which she will soon be getting in stock! So watch out girls!

Here is the quilt that I am going to enter in the "show". I had to find a quilt that I haven't shown everyone yet, so this the quilt that I chose to enter.

This is another Joined At The Hip banner. I made the quilt in 2007 and it was my very first attempt at needle turn-applique. I have never taken a class on needle-turn-applique, so I just learned how to do it by trial and error along with advise from my other quilter friends. Since this was my first needle-turn applique quilt, it holds a special/painful place in my collection of quilts. Since then, I have improved greatly and I have grown to love to do needle-turn-applique quilts!

Alright everyone, I hope that you will visit Kelly's blog and enter her quilt show because I would love to see more of your quilts! Good luck to everyone who enters and have fun shopping in her store while you are there! Make a list of which prizes you would like to win because you may be the winner.

Until Next Time.....Happy Quilting!

BTW- Please let me know if you enter the quilt show so that I will know when to look for the your quilt. You can email me or leave me a comment. Thanks again!

Priceless

On Saturday I got an early Mother's Day present from my DH. He took the Little Person out for the ENTIRE day! This is a glimpse of how I spent my day.

One cup of tea, which I actually drank before it got cold : $1.00Check Spelling

Shopping at my new favorite on-line quilt store (Cotton Charm ): $$$$$ (Sshh, I can't say)

Hours of uninterrupted sewing, blogging, and magazine reading: PRICELESS!!

Thanks to my DH, I feel like I was able to accomplish about 100 things in one day! Soon I will show you what I was able to get done.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I hope that you were surrounded by the love of your family!

Another Basket

Since it rained most of the weekend, I started working on my Bunny Hill BOM again. Here is my February block: (Sorry that the photo looks crooked!)

Here are my January and February blocks:

I think that I am going to continue to use scraps of light blue backgrounds for each block.

Now I am only 3 months behind!

BTW-I am addicted to this!
They don't sell sweet tea in southern California. In fact, they look at you funny if you ask for it! When we got back here I drank a whole gallon of it in two days! Talk about sugar overload.

Until next time......Happy Quilting!

Quiltified!

Here it is----my April banner after it has been "QUILTIFIED" (aka-washed and dried so that it looks all puffy).

This is a Button Up pattern by Joined At The Hip. I bought the entire collection 2 years ago and so I far I have only done February, March, and now April. Someday, I will get around to making the rest of them.
I chose bright and cheery fabrics that I had thrown into my scrap bin. All of the colors give me a "happy" feeling when I see them.

My Little Person likes it too! Who cares about a few "foot prints" on your raindrops anyway?

These are my 2009 completed quilts.

Until Next Time.....Happy Quilting!
