Quilt Show #1

I know that the week is almost over and I am just getting to blog about my trip to the Long Beach Quilt Show, but I want everyone to know that I had a GREAT time! My DH drove me and my "Little Person" to the quilt show. He took the "Little Person" to the Aquarium, while I wandered around the show in awe.

There was no way that you could get lost in Long Beach because all you had to do is follow the hordes of women carrying lots of bags! Or just follow all of the buses filled with women! I think that they were predicting somewhere around 10,000 visitors.
My DH took this of me before I went into the Quilt Show. (Notice NO packages!) And by the way, I decided not to bring the cute messenger bag that I made because I knew that it was going to be too small! So, I opted for a larger, roomier bag that could EXPAND if need be!(What cute colors for the entrance sign!)When I went inside, I devised a strategy- scan all of the booths, look at the quilts, eat, and then revisit vendor booths to make purchases. Hah! This was a great idea but the first booth that went to had quilts from the Fig Tree Trunk Show and lots of Fig Tree stuff. Right then and there, I knew that I was going to be in TROUBLE! LOL!

This booth was done by Cotton & Chocolate (such a cute name). I just wanted to take those quilts down and put them in my bag because I love the colors!
Well stay tuned for more about my trip to the Quilt Show! Until next time.....Happy Quilting!

It's all about the BAG!

Well I was able to complete one project today. It is this cute messenger bag. I used Moda's Simplicity fabric to make it and I am in love with it!
This is the back of the bag. It has two pockets that can hold my cell phone and sunglasses.
This is the inside of the bag. I added two more pockets on the inside to hold my lip gloss and other necessities!
I am going to take my new bag with me tomorrow when I go to the Long Beach Quilt Show. MAYBE it will be big enough to hold all of my new loot! (I doubt it)! LOL!
Until next time.....Happy Quilting!

The Unveiling!

It is finally complete...Block #1 of my version Leanne Beasley's Butterfly Garden ! I just finished putting the last few French Knots on the flowers and I am in love!

I had so much fun choosing the fabrics, doing the stitchery, and the applique!

I had so much fun that I think that I will start on the next block.....Ooops! I am supposed to be working on those unfinished projects! Oh well....

Here is one final look!

Until next time.....Happy Quilting!

Another Completed Block!

On Friday I received Block #2 of Fat Quarter Shop's Designer Mystery BOM. Since I really didn't feel like stitching or working on one of my unfinished projects, I opened the package and went to work.

Here is my block #2. It is called "Star Struck" and it was designed by Sand Gervais.I REALLY hate half square triangles, so I am surprised that I even finished this block!

Here are my blocks #1 and #2:

(Don't you just love the light blue and chocolate brown dots?)

Well I'm off to watch a movie and think about my unfinished projects! I'm also on the countdown to the Long Beach Quilt Show (5days)!

Until next time..................Happy Quilting!

The challenge is on!

As you know, Cara at the Quilt Nook and I made a pact to clean up our UFO pile and our "planned quilts" pile. So, the other day I pulled out my basket of projects and just started with the project that was on the top. The lucky winner was this cute wall hanging that I had started before Christmas.I am not sure what the name of the pattern is, but I think that it is called Charmed Stars.
I had actually made several of them as Christmas gifts for family members and I had this one left over in an "unfinished" state for myself. I got right down to work and finished it up. Now I will be able to put it out this Christmas!

Now that this project is done, I can tackle these:

They are just various projects that I was at one time VERY motivated to start and then somewhere along the way, lost interest or moved onto something else. Once these projects are completed I can move onto this:

This is my basket of "planned quilts." I can't count how many projects are sitting in the basket with all of the fabric needed to complete them. Luckily my hubby doesn't know either! So basically over the next couple of weeks, this is what I need to complete! LOL!

We also made a pact not to purchse any NEW fabric (fabric that is not going to be used in existing projects). So far I have done well. I even went to the quilt store and only spent $5. Now that has NEVER happened before! HOWEVER I do have to make one exception....I am going to the Long Beach Quilt Festival this weekend and I already know that I am gong to be in trouble! LOL!
Until next time......Happy Quilting!

My GREAT Find!

I had a little bit of "time to kill" this morning, so I decided to stop by the Country Loft and pick up some more Valdani thread. While I was there, this cute little paisley box caught my eye (I am drawn to anything paisley).

I picked it up to look for a price tag, but there wasn't one on the box, so I assumed that it wasn't for sale. The saleslady told me that she would sell it to me for $10 and I grabbed it. While she was ringing it up, I noticed that it was a Moda box! OMG! I love Moda and it is a paisley print!

I am going to use my new treasure to hold my notions, threads, and some fat quarters!
Have a great 4th of July! Until next time.....Happy Quilting!

Another Block Done!

I am on a roll with my stitching. I just finished another block for my Noah's Ark quilt! It is not my best work, but keep in mind that this is my first attempt at stichery! I am excited about this project because it is a great project to use to learn the techniques...(thanks Lynette for providing us with this design!) Oh yeah, my child also loves the animals!

Until next time.....Happy Quilting!
