Another Gift from Above

Well I was lucky enough to receive another gift from above. Well actually it is from my Stitchers' Angel. I actually received it a few days ago, but I haven't had a chance to post about it.

So here is what I received:

  • A cute fabric basket, which I use as a scrap catcher for all of those pesky threads that seem to land on the floor! How did she know that I need one of those! It is made out of Moda's Sanctuary line, which I also have in my stash. Again, how did she know?

  • Inside the fabric basket was a hefty supply of DMV variegated floss in the most wonderful colors. It almost looks like she sent me a rainbow because the colors are so pretty! I am sure that I will put these to use on my Butterfly Garden quilt.

  • Next she sent me a vintage bird kitchen towel pattern. Aren't the birds too cute! I will have to make them red don't you think RED ?

  • Lastly, she sent me some Borland's of Ireland Chocolate Cookies. This is supposed to be another clue to her identity...I'm not sure who she is yet but the cookies were yummy! Any suggestions RED ?

My angel must also love scrapbooking and stamping because all of the tags loook handmade! Am I right? I guess that I have to wait and see!

Well I know that my Stitchers' Angel is out there watching over me, and so is RED, and so is my gal pal at the Quilt Nook!

Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

PS-Check back again for more on my quilting progress! HUGS to all!

Project Update #1

Project Update #1: Hexagon Quilt

Remember all of those little squares that I cut up? Well I have made some progress with them.

So far, I have completed 20 flowers (140 hexagons) and basted another 50 hexagons. I have picked out the background fabric but I haven't cut it up yet. I also decided not to put on a 2nd border around the flowers. This is just my personal prference, plus it will take me forever to complete it!

I have carpal tunnel syndrome so doing all of this handwork at one time gets to be painful. Someday I'll have this project completed !

Now I know why they call this quilt Grandmother's Flower Garden because you will be a grandmother by the time you finish it! LOL!!! Luckily I have purchased all of the fabric for the quilt because it will probably be out of print by the time that I am finished with it!

(Do you think that I have enough red in it RED ?)

Well I am off to do some more sewing so that I can finally finish another project!

Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

Along Came Nina!

I have had this cute little March banner by Joined at the Hip pieced and basted for awhile (2months). UGH!Unfortunately, it got buried under the piles of projects on my sewing table, which is not good! So I decided to tackle some machine quilting and finally finish a project.

I am an eternal "beginner" quilter and my machine quilting is also on the "beginner" level. First, I hate to baste and second, I find that the rhythm that you must achieve between your pressure foot and the hand motion is difficult to achieve. Nonetheless, I insist upon quilting my quilts myself because I want complete the whole process.
Most of my quilting motifs are wavy lines with a few curls thrown in between. I don't do stippling because I either make them "too big" or "too small" and I don't find the motion to be natural for my hands. So this time I decided to branch out a little and quilt the banner with circular swirls or "cinnamon buns".

Everything was going along fine until "Nina" came along! "Nina" is the name that I affectionately gave to Cara's Bernina, which she brought with her when she came to visit me. Cara set up Nina, gave me a demo (and my DH), and let me test out my quilting on her machine. Here are my practice pieces:

Oh, BOY! What a difference! I even got creative and quilted the rest of the banner using this cute little flower!

Here is the completed banner. Do you think that I can convince my DH to get me a "Nina" of my own?

I attended my first quilt meeting with the Friendship Quilters. I took my little banner with me for "show-n-tell"! What a wonderful group of ladies and I can't wait until next month's meeting!

Check back again for updates on my projects and the special gift that I got from my Stitchers' Angel! (Hello to my angel!) Oh yeah....and you too RED !

Until next time.....Happy Quilting!

Don't hate me because

Okay fellow bloggers don't hate me (especially you RED)because I am Camille at Thimble Blossoms' giveaway winner!Woohoo!

While my gal pal, Cara from The Quilt Nook, was visiting me, we sat at my breakfast table and ate our toast/waffles and read our blogs. Yes this is DYSFUNCTIONAL as her DH would say! Anyway, we noticed that our favorite gal, Camille, was having a giveaway.

Giveaway? No need to ask twice! So away we went and entered the giveaway without any expectation of winning. However we did promise each other that if one of us won, we would split the prize.

Here is what I wrote: I love fabric, Diet Pepsi, and red shoes and purses! (Yes RED you can check my closet!)

Well, life around here got crazy and I had computer issues, so I never got around to checking out Camille's blog to see who was chosen the winner. (Remember, I never thought that I would win!) Then my gal pal called and told me to turn on the computer and check out Camille's blog! Amidst the cranky child and dirty dishes, I read her post and started to SCREAM! There was my name with my lovely comment! My "little person" looked at me with a face of confusion as I danced around the room!

Well today the "mail-lady" left me a package in my mailbox! She probably knows by now to drop the package and run, so she left it in my mailbox instead!

Don't try and take this away from me and get out of my way!

Here is what I got: one jelly roll of her newest line of fabric (Cotton Blossoms by Moda) and 3 patterns of my choice. (Don't you just love the names of her patterns....Sassafras, Domestic Diva, and Wallflower?)

Camille was nice enough to autograph everything for me! True to my word, I had Cara pick out 2 patterns, and Camille even autographed them for her! Even her cute little note card was reminiscent of her style!

So this weekend I am going to stop progress on my other projects and my house cleaning to make the Sassafras quilt! It is just calling my name! I can't wait to show everyone just how YUMMY these fabrics are in person! Plus I think that I see myself purchasing more Cotton Blossom yardage tomorrow online! LOL!

So fellow bloggers, don't hate me!

Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

Day 2 of our GREAT Adventure

We began the 2nd day of our adventure by going to the Country Loft Sew for a Cure Quilt Show. If you have never beeen to the Country Loft, you are missing out on a real treat! These quilts were donated to the shop and all of the proceeds were to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. This year they raised more than $9500, and when you see the quilts you will know why!

Here are just a few of the quilts. Their website has many more photos, so check it out!

I took a few photos for some of my "Blog Buddies." When I saw them I thought of you guys! So here we go:

RED, I thought that you might like this cute little Raggedy Ann quilt. They would look cute at your house! (I'm just sayin!LOL)

This one is for Mar because I know that you were also working on this quilt. I hope that you enjoy the "Socks!"

This one is for everyone who is making a Dear Jane quilt! Hopefully it will inspire you to finish those blocks!

This is for my gal pal, Cara . She wanted a picture of it but didn't have her camera with her.

Here is the quilt that I purchased at the Loft. What a great way to support such a great cause!

When we left the Loft, we headed down the street to Rosie's to do more damage! What would a shop hop be without a trip to Rosie's?

Stayed tuned for more on our great adventure!

Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

My Stitcher's Angel is the BEST!

Ok, I know that I am supposed to be blogging about our great adventure, but I need to take a moment to let all of you know that MY Stitcher's Angel is the Best!

Here is why she is the BEST! This afternoon I was coming down my stairs and I heard "knock, knock, knock". Well who could it be but my friend the postman leaving me a package.

As I ran back inside screaming with excitement, I thought wait, get the camera and take a picture! (That is what RED would do!) Back up the stairs I went, only to be disappointed because my camera battery was DEAD! Impossible, that never happens!

So, I put my lovely package on the counter and started making dinner! Bad move because the box kept calling me! It kept saying "Someone special made me! Open me now!"

OHHHHHH.....that darn battery!

Finally enough battery juice to take a picture!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Look at this cute paint bucket! The outer decorations are similar to a purchase that I made! It looks like my favorite Shangi-La fabric by 3 Sisters! When my husband saw it , he said "It looks like you! And the ribbons are a great touch!"

Now I can't stand it anymore..."What's inside?"......The KEY holds the answer!

I love this cute bird pincushion! Right now I am "into" little birds because my husband calls me "his Lovebird"! And it is BLUE! ..."How did she know that I have been looking at this pattern on the Bunny Hill website?"

Next is a stichery pattern from BAREROOTS! I almost fell on the floor because I almost purchased this same pattern at the Long Beach Quilt Show! I walked around with it in my hand and then I chose something else. Maybe a Little Angel whispered in my ear!
Next came a bag of my favorite candies...Skittles and Smarties! ..."How did she know that these are my favorites?"

I am so lucky to have an angel watching over me! I know that she is out there and has somehow figured out all of my favorite things! So, I want MY angel to know that she has made me feel so SPECIAL! Thank you for my gifts! They are more than I could have asked for!

Sleep tight my angel! Someone is also watching over you!

Until Next Time.....Happy Quilting
