Always The Last Minute

Today is the last day to submit your Chraming Girls' Quilt Club finished project for the month of August.
And there is nothing like waiting until the last minute to get it done. Literally, the last minute!
The last binding stitch is done on my BFF's wedding quilt.
This is just a preview of the quilt again, but it is too late to try and take a picture of the entire quilt. I will post more photos tomorrow after I take a nap! Seriously!
Before I forget Kelly you are so sneaky! More on that one later!
Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

How I Spent My Weekend

What did we do this weekend?
We waited for the rain to end.

In between raindrops, I started sewing the binding on my BFF's wedding quilt.
Eventually the rain ended and everything was left in its place so that we could play outside.
BTW-I even left the binding on my table! (unfinished of course)
Hope you had a productive weekend!

Basting Away

For inquiring minds....like Mrs. Quilt Hollow and Mrs. L7 Quilt Co., I am still here! And yes....I am working on my quilt! This time I am  basting away!

My DH's car wouldn't start this AM, so I was stranded at home. Needless to say, I spent the day with a bunch of pins! Ouch!

A Personal Touch

They always say that a "Personal Touch" makes a good gift great. So after thinking about how I could make by BFF's wedding quilt really special, I came up with a another plan. Yes this is my second revision to this quilt! And yes...the wedding was last week!

I realized that our handwriting is what makes us unique. I know that in today's cyberspace/cyberworld, we tend to take our handwriting for granted. I know that I can immediately identify my BFF's handwriting and I am sure that she would give you the same response. So I decided to add some of my handwriting to her wedding quilt.

First I went to my trusty box of Valdani thread.
Then I chose something that would "stand-out" on the quilt.
I picked the "rust colored" thread...AKA Valdani Color P6.
Then in my best BIG girl handwriting, I drew their initials and wedding date.
The only problem with my bright idea was that I decided to do after I completed the entire quilt top! I don't use a hoop so it was really hard to gather the quilt in my hands so that I could do the stitchery.

Anyway, here is how my Personal Touch turned out:
It is not my best stitching, but I know that she will see my handwriting and fall in love with it!
BTW- How do you quilt your stitchery projects? Do you quilt around it? Over it? Or not at all? I would love to hear your suggestions!
I also have another personal touch for the back of the quilt. Stay tuned.
Until Next Time.....Happy Quilting!

And The Winner Is....

I am a "Hands-On" kind of a girl, so I created this "How to pick a winner" tutorial.

Step1: Gather and read all of the awesome Blog comments. Cut them into separate slips of paper.

Step 2: Read all of the awesome blog comments again. Fold the slips of paper in half.

Step 3: Find an awesome container to hold all of the comments.

Step 4: Add all of the awesome comments to the container. Shake gently and stir if needed. (Gosh that it a lot of blog comments!)

Step 5: Reach inside and grab a winner!

And the winner is .....Barb's Creations! Barb please email me your information and I will get your lovely prize in the mail for you!
Step 6: Thank everyone who participated in my "Thank You" giveaway.
I was really touched by all of the wonderful comments that I received! It was fun to catch up with old blog buddies and meet new ones. I wish that I had a prize for everyone!

Thanks again for stopping by my blog! It just wouldn't be the same without all of you.

My "Thank You" Giveaway

Wow! I can hardly believe that I have gotten over 10,000 hits on my blog!

I remember when I was so excited to start my blog and actually receive comments from fellow bloggers. In my wildest dreams, I would have never thought that anyone would find my creations and my words to be so interesting. Since then, my blog has grown so much and I have such a close circle of blog friends that are both near and far.

So as a small token of my appreciation to everyone in Blogland, I would like to giveaway this Aviary Charm Pack to one lucky winner.

Simply leave me a comment before midnight on Wednesday, August 19 and I will draw the name of one lucky winner. BTW- You never know what else I might throw into the package!
Again, I want to say "Thank You" to everyone in Blogland who has stopped by my blog! Without all of you, it just wouldn't be the same!
Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

My Greatest Accomplishment

Three years ago today, I achieved my greatest accomplishment in life! After a 10 years struggle, I gave birth to the sweetest little angel. This was the day that changed our lives forever.

So this weekend, with the love of our family and friends, we celebrated my greatest accomplishment and my greatest gift to the world.

No matter where I go or what I achieve, he will always be my greatest accomplishment!

Happy Birthday to my Little Person! Mommy loves you!

Do You See The Problem?

Time is just flying by! How is it already August 6th? This is where my problems begin.
  1. I need to decide on my Girls' Club Project for August.
  2. I need to make a wedding gift for my BFF who has moved up her wedding date! They have decided to get married before her fiance deploys again to Iraq. The problem is that the new wedding date is August 13, 2009!
3. What do I make for her in a short amount of time? She is very traditional and doesn't like bold colors. Well that just eliminates half of my fabric stash! Do you see the problem?

So after digging around, here is what I am going to use.

The colors in this fabric line will match everything in her house. Of course, I will thrown in a couple of fabrics that will match MY house just to be on the safe side!

So here is my August Charming Girls' Quilt Club project: a wedding quilt for my BFF that is traditional in nature but suits my style.
I am not sure what I am going to do, but check back soon (before the 13th) to see how it turns out.
Until Next Time....Happy Quilting!

A Closer Look

Just as in life, the sun did come out and shine this weekend. We took advantage of the beautiful (although very humid) weather by playing outside. I was also able to take some better photos of my Pinwheel Pirouette Quilt.

Here is a closer look at my quilt:

I hope that the sun is shining in your corner of the world!
