Another Moda U Block Completed!

Hello Everyone!

I have been busy trying to "catch up" on my Moda U blocks. Over the weekend I completed block #8.!However I still have to finish block #7 and start block #6. I'll get there eventually! Of course I finished block 8 just in time to receive block #9 in the mail!
Today I spent my free time wandering around my two favorite quilt stores: Rosie's Calico Cupboard and The Country Loft. This is the first time that I have been to the Country Loft. I had "heard" so much about it from other blogs, that I just had to check it out for myself! What a cute little store! Anyway I enjoyed myself and I can't wait to start some new projects!
Until next time! Happy quilting!

Thank you gifts

Hello everyone!

Today our playgroup went to Sea World. What a tiring day! However I did manage to finish these cute little "mini" quilts that I am going to give to my friends, Melissa and Leslie, for helping me out while my child was sick. The pattern is called Playing Dress Up by Liberty Star.

Until next time.....Happpy Quilting!

Another Great Giveawy!

Mar at Pin Cushion Diaries mentioned a great giveaway that everyone should checkout. Simply go to Timble Blossoms to register. Also check out the patterns. They are too cute!

Good luck everyone (even though I REALLY, REALLY hope that I win)!

Completed Moda U Blocks

As you may already know, my gal pal at The Quilt Nook and I are doing the Moda U Piece and Plenty quilt. Cara and I started working on the blocks when she came out to visit me back in January. We had so much fun sharing fabric, swapping fabric, and buying more fabric! LOL! Her shop is doing a scrappy look and my shop is using mostly Madeira fabrics.

This is my first real attempt at doing any type of applique. Cara had lots of helpful tips, which really hepled me out!

We actually started with Block #2 (I really don't remember why, but we did). I haven't finished the bottom basket yet because I have decided to change the fabric. After seeing Cara's scrappy quilt, I wanted to change a few things to mine also! Now don't get me wrong, I like the Madeira line, but I think that the quilt looks better with different fabrics mixed in.

So, for Block #3, I started to add differnt fabrics. I am just starting to get the hang of needle turn applique.

Block #4- Somehow when I was changing fabric, I ran out of the fabric that I was going to use to make the handle. (I have to remember to get more of that).

Block #5- I found this one a little bit harder to applique. I am really starting to love the scrappier look. It makes me want to do the other ones over again!

I haven't done block 6 yet because I am not sure what fabrics I want to use. I have changed my mind twice already.
Block 7-I have pieced the backrgound and I am working on the bucket.
Block #8- I am almost done with it. I have a few more flowers to applique.
Hope you enjoyed! Happy Quilting!

Goodies from the Quilt Nook!

Here is a photo of the goodies that my friend from the Quilt Nook sent to me. I love getting parcels in the mail from her! I love everything, especially the antique spools of thread!

My First Blog!

Hello Blogland!

This is my first post and my first time blogging! I would have never done this if it hadn't of been for my friend, Cara, at The Quilt Nook. She is also new to blogging and she has gotten me hooked! If you read her posts, I am "the quilt buddy" that she mentions in her blogs. Cara and I have been friends for years and we share many of the same interests and passions, so it is only fitting that she introduced me to blogland.

I have been quilting since 2002. A group of my girlfriends, who were quiltmakers, were going to a quilt class. I decided to tag-along with them, even though I didn't have a sewing machine and I didn't have a clue as to what quiltmaking involved. I had such a great time that I went home and begged my husband to buy me a sewing machine. At that time it just wasn't reasonable for me to purchase a decent machine, so I was just content to tag-along with the girls. Later that year, my husband secretly inquired about sewing machines and purchase one for my Christmas gift. The rest is history.

As you read our blogs, you will see that Cara and I are doing the similar projects. It always helps to have someone who shares you obsessions! Her enthusiasm always keeps me motivated and I hope that you will also find the same inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Quilting!
